Are you a skilled technical advisor with a strong background in electrotechnical installations and infrastructure systems? We are looking for an experienced professional to support maintenance, modification, and renewal activities within a leading public infrastructure organization such as Rijkswaterstaat.

About the Role

As a Technical Advisor – Installations (Weirs & Locks), you will support the Technical Manager in overseeing maintenance and modification activities across critical water infrastructure assets. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of technical installations within the area.

You will monitor system performance, analyze failure trends, and proactively recommend improvements while ensuring that all work is executed to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide maintenance, repair, and modification activities carried out by contractors

• Conduct quality control (QC) inspections based on inspection plans and technical standards

• Analyze system performance and identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities

• Review and assess modification proposals (VTWs) and ensure proper implementation

• Coordinate and oversee repairs and technical interventions with internal and external stakeholders

• Provide technical advice on work plans, methodologies, and execution strategies

• Ensure proper completion of inspection, acceptance, and documentation processes

• Maintain and monitor quality and compliance of inspection and delivery dossiers

• Support renewal and replacement programs (V&R initiatives) within the infrastructure domain

Key Responsibilities in Quality & Compliance

• Ensure the quality and reliability of inspections and executed work

• Support external audits and technical assessments

• Safeguard compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and contractual agreements

Profile

• Completed HBO degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or similar

• Minimum 5 years of experience in quality inspections within infrastructure or technical projects

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Materials and execution processes

  • Technical standards and guidelines (E&W)

  • Contract forms such as UAV-GC

  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings

• Basic knowledge of technical automation in safety-critical environments

• Valid VCA-VOL certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with RAMS methodology

• Familiarity with government or public-sector processes

• Experience in cost estimation and requirements analysis

• Multidisciplinary knowledge of mechanical (WTB) and civil engineering structures

• Strong ability to assess complex technical information and guide implementation processes
