A major global fashion brand based in Amsterdam is in search of a Procurement Manager. The Department and Team

In this temporary position, the Manager will take on both the general responsibilities outlined below and the oversight of critical strategic projects during the maternity leave period. The role involves leading global initiatives and driving the successful completion of specific procurement goals, including:

  • Managing Global RFx Process for the Global Rebranding:
    • This encompasses sourcing for store concepts, fixtures, hangers, mannequins, and packaging.
  • Finalizing Vendor Negotiations and Contracting:
    • Focusing particularly on store construction projects across the EMEA region.

Beyond these strategic priorities, the Manager will handle routine procurement operations, explore additional cost-saving opportunities, and foster strong relationships with key vendors and stakeholders.

Some Key qualities / skills needed

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management:
    • Build and sustain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, serving as the primary point of contact for all procurement-related needs.
  • Procurement Advocacy: 
    • Champion the Procurement department's role within the organization by showcasing its value-added services, driving stakeholder engagement, and promoting adherence to procurement processes.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and management of RFx projects for both new and existing products and services, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Global Sourcing Project Management:
    • Coordinate global sourcing initiatives across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.
    • Align with key stakeholders and collaborate with departments such as Store Development, Concept, Non-Trade Supply Chain, Sustainability, and Legal to maintain consistency and ensure strategic alignment.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Global RFx Management:
    • Lead and execute RFx processes across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas, ensuring effective vendor selection, competitive pricing, and timely contracting.
  • Vendor Oversight:
    • Manage vendor relationships through regular communication, performance tracking, and quality monitoring, while exploring opportunities for improvement.
  • Market Analysis and Sourcing:
    • Conduct market research to identify new vendors, ensuring alignment with sourcing strategies, sustainability, and company objectives.
  • Contract Negotiation:
    • Collaborate with legal and business teams to negotiate contracts with clear KPIs, adhering to company policies and minimizing risks.
  • Cost and Pricing Optimization:
    • Analyze purchasing data to negotiate cost reductions, enhance value-added services, and achieve savings targets.
  • Process and Risk Management:
    • Enhance procurement workflows and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with service levels, CSR standards, and human rights policies.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Provide detailed financial insights on procurement spend, category metrics, and savings opportunities to support strategic decision-making.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Stakeholder Management & Adaptability:
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Procurement Expertise:
    • At least 6 years of relevant procurement experience, including 2+ years as a Buyer; retail procurement experience is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Proficient in procurement processes, systems, contract management, and value engineering principles.
  • Skills & Capabilities:
    • Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and time management.
  • Collaborative Mindset:
    • A team player with an open, international outlook who can build strong relationships within a diverse, multi-lingual team.
